Text Box: were busy from early afternoon to the wee hours of the morning. The hors d’oevres and dainties were all donated by local food or catering businesses. Other costs were borne by private and corporate sponsors. To all who contributed in so many ways, a heartfelt thank you!
The entire event was dependent on the months of dedicated work of the organizing committee. What a powerful group of  women! On the day of the concert many generous volunteers sprang into action. The result was an event to remember.
In addition to proceeds from tickets, many other generous donations were received. In total, after expenses, this joyous fundraiser event added almost eleven thousand dollars to the Kateri House resources. A good portion of these funds were used immediately for ongoing operating expenses, as well as for a new printer, now the pride and joy of the producer of this newsletter.

Text Box:  On July 12, 2002, Eva Turner, a much-loved Cree elder, completed her earthly journey and went home to her    Creator.
Eva was happiest when surrounded by her many children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed occasions when her whole extended family gathered for weddings, graduations, and other celebrations.
Throughout her life Eva generously shared her wisdom, her wit and her faith.
During the past nineteen years Eva was always happy to receive a visit from “the sisters of Kateri House”, to share tea and stories.

Text Box: Eva left three sisters, three sons and four daughters, thirty-five grandchildren, and forty-nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe, and four children, as well as by her sister, Elizabeth.
Eva’s daughter, Myrna Turner, is a Kateri House Board Member.
Eva will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  With all the elders who have gone before, may she continue to watch over the community she loved so much.
“Don’t think of her as gone away,             her journey’s just begun…”
